With a saddened heart, our dear friend Anthony Martinez and founding Smiley Crew Productions member has passed away. Tony was a true local Osos legend! Anthony had health battles over the years, but recently he was blessed with a new lease on life after a successful cancer surgery last month. Unfortunately, life caught up to our friend way too early. He’s survived by his loving siblings (Luis, Olivia, and Marcus) and father. With the passing of their sweet mom, Carol, a few years ago, this has added to the hardship the Martinez siblings are confronted with. The family could really use any help you can provide towards his end-of-life costs and to be able to provide our friend with a proper celebration of life.

You simply cannot say enough good things about Anthony Martinez, and that's the truth. So when Los Osos lost one of its most vibrant and fun-loving members, the world felt it too. Anthony wasn't just a great, loyal, and caring brother to Luis, Marcus, and Olivia, but he was also a brother to anyone who got to know him, and that goes for everyone at Smiley Crew Productions. Whenever there was a get-together at the Martinez household, it wasn't so much that Anthony would be there in as much as people needed Anthony to be there. He had a smile that lit up the room at any party or function, or even just hanging out and playing Goldeneye. He was always good for converastion, a joke, a laugh, and the occasional prank. He was a beacon of joy and fun, and no matter if had been days or years, you were always happy to see Anthony, and he was happy to see you too.
As far as Anthony's Membership with Smiley Crew Productions, he was a founding member and appeared in all sorts of things when we were just getting started. Most notably, he was half of The Duss N Tony Show along with Dusty Gaebel; the goofy, fake-sports show that had these two friends doing weird and wild sports that they may or may not have just made up. It was an 'extreme sports show' that was one of the very first things Smiley Crew Productions made, and would appear all over Cable Access in SLO County. In addition to The Duss N Tony Show, Anthony also made appearances on Animal Fury as both the Near Naked Indian and the proud owner of a Markimacamala. He also appeared in episdes of Police Beat, WeGotYourBack.com, and went on a legendary road trip to Sacramento with Noah Wilson, Dusty Gaebel, and Matt Taverner, much of which was filmed and also tossed up on Cable Access.
Anyone who was lucky enough to know Anthony knew that he was a beacon of fun, as well as having fun. Aside from appearing as a member of Smiley Crew Productions, he could be found playing golf with Max Marple or playing video games with Dusty Gaebel, Noah Wilson, and countless others back on 15th street. And while we have lost a brother in Anthony, we are fortunate enough to have his voice, his smile, and his laughter saved forever on his shows below. There's no way anyone who knew Anthony personally could ever forget him, and the internet won't be allowed to either.
A good day at the beach and a great memory. Anthony and Dusty leap off the dunes without a care. Some of they were really really high too! Probably one of the best Smiley Crew memories was both shooting and making this video.
Anthony and Dusty hang out with Chris Raj and learn how to flip quarters like a real pro. This episode was surely one of the wackier ideas we had while hanging out on 15th street. Anthony really knocked Raj off a bike with a quarter, we swear.
Hanging out at 'The Trees' in Montaña De Oro became a regular thing, so Anthony and Dusty made a video out there. Annie Turner hangs out, and I guess they got sponsored by 7up. The Trees was very much a cool spot, and brings back more good memories.
On a quest to win History Day, Anthony, Dusty, Matt, and Noah took a road trip through Sacramento and to Placerville to film some 'on-site' clips, including the great Jacob Pillwicker clip below. Anthony was recording a lot of what went on, including this moment where everyone compares finances.
I think I messed up the text on this episode, but oh well. The gang drives back from Sacramento, and share how they've grown from the experience, maybe.
The reason for Road Trip '99' was to film for a History Day video. While I can't seem to find the whole thing, I did manage to save the best part, which was Dusty as miner Jacob Pillwicker being interviewed by reporter Anthony.
While a show about police brutality may not work today, we thought it was funny in 2001. Ponch (Luis Martinez) and Jack (Noah Wilson) are on a stakeout, and an annoying civilian (Anthony) keeps bothering them.
